Mason Greenwood missed Manchester United's Premier League trip to Watford after testing positive for COVID-19.

The forward was a notable absentee when the matchday squad was announced at 14:00 GMT, one hour before kick-off at Vicarage Road, having been a regular starter so far this season.

In his pre-match interview at the stadium, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed: "Mason has got COVID unfortunately. He's tested positive, so we'll wait for him to get back."

Greenwood's fellow England internationals Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford are both in Solskjaer's line-up, joining Portuguese pair Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo in the front four.

Rashford is starting for only the second time this season. He told Sky Sports: "As a squad, everyone's buzzing for this game. It's been a long break for all of us but we've had a good week's training and everyone's ready."
Marcus continued: "The determination never goes away and we know how important it is to get the ball rolling. I think this period leading up to Christmas is going to be vital for us and we want to be going into Christmas in good form.

"Three points today would be good for us because we've had a full week's training which is rare at this club. At the end of the week, after you've worked so hard during the week, you deserve three points and a good performance. Hopefully if we get those points, it will give us something to build on and keep us moving in the right direction."
