Why Mount is a manager's dream
Mason Mount has been hailed as a ‘manager’s dream’, as he continues his promising form for Manchester United this season.
Mount scored his third goal of 2025/26 in the 4-1 victory at Wolves on Monday night, and stood out at Molineux with his sharp interplay, particularly as the Reds ran riot in the second half.
The England international was a topic of conversation during Thursday’s live training at Carrington, as former Reds defender Phil Bardsley touched upon his growing impact while speaking to Mark Sullivan.
“Mason Mount’s been absolutely outstanding,” Bardsley said.
“It’s great to see him get back to full fitness and playing with that edge and swagger - the reason he’s playing for Manchester United.

“He’s been unfortunate with injuries but he’s coming back into the fold and he’s looked exceptional.
“He’s a manager’s dream. You look at the way he conducts himself, you never hear any noise from outside the football pitch.
“He puts the hard yards in, he’s got quality and can chip in with a goal and an assist. He’s a perfect player to have at a football club who are trying to improve and win things. Someone like him falling into that form is only beneficial for the team and the club.”
Bardsley hopes Mount will continue to impress in the coming weeks, as United will be forced to cope without Amad, Noussair Mazraoui and Bryan Mbeumo.
The trio are departing for the Africa Cup of Nations soon and will be missed, but it’s a chance to step up according to the former Burnley and Sunderland man.
“It’s disappointing it’s falling when it’s falling,” he added. “They’ve been outstanding this season, Amad for the last two, but Mbeumo has been a breath of fresh air. I’d say he’s probably been our best player so far so he’s going to be a huge miss.
“The fringe players will be so important, because of how valuable [they] have been.”
Seven goals by our no.7
Mason Mount has now scored seven goals as a Red and his tally includes several worldies…
The success at Wolves lifted us to sixth in the Premier League table and we are within touching distance of the top four, with 15 games played this season.
Bournemouth are the next visitors to Old Trafford, at the start of a busy second half of December, and Bardsley wants to see us take full advantage in a competitive top-flight.
“We’ve seen in recent weeks, the bigger teams are dropping points so it’s wide open but we’ve got to focus on our performances.
“Going into the festive period, where the games are coming thick and fast, it’s up to the manager and players to maximise the opportunities.”
