Mount sees potential in Chido

Mason Mount was full of praise for Manchester United team-mate Chido Obi after our 3-1 success against Hong Kong, China on Friday.

Our no.7 was introduced as a second-half substitute at the Hong Kong Stadium and cleverly teed up Obi for his second goal against Ashley Westwood's side.

In fact, Mason was arguably one of brightest sparks as we came back from 1-0 down to hit the net three times during the second 45 minutes, with Ayden Heaven also on the scoresheet late on.

Mount, who spoke to local broadcasters following the contest, was asked about the teenage forward, who most fans will be hoping to see lots more of in 2025/26.

Mason spoke to broadcasters in Hong Kong, after United ran out 3-1 winners in our final post-season outing...

"Chido is a very good player," began the United midfielder. "I haven't played with him loads but, obviously, you can see in training what he's about, his good movement as a player.

"As a 10, you want to try to give balls into the box for him to get on the end of. I saw him and he's a threat with a ball in the air for a header on goal.

"That was my aim. But all the young kids who played today, I thought stepped up in difficult circumstances.

"They all performed really well so I'm really happy for them as well."

Having played in Malaysia and Hong Kong, the Reds have provided unique opportunities in Asia this month, with thousands of supporters turning up to catch a glimpse of their favourites.

Mount thanked United's fans, insisting it is both a pleasure and an honour to be able to experience these occasions, even at the end of a long campaign.

Youngster Chido Obi scores twice and Ayden Heaven also gets off the mark for the Reds.

"First and foremost, I just want to say a massive thank you to all the fans for showing out here today," added Mason.

"It's amazing to see them all in Malaysia and now here in Hong Kong. It's been brilliant support and, after the first game, obviously we wanted to come here and win and have a good performance.

"That's the most important thing for us, to perform for our fans."
