Ten Hag has returned to Carrington early in preparation for our pre-season training camp that will begin on Thursday with the squad’s non-international players.
Of course, the manager also wanted to greet Mount personally and, as you can see in the video below, he had a few short words of motivation for our new no.7.
After posing for signing pictures and while embracing Mason, Erik told his new recruit with a smile: “I want you to be a very important player for this team.”
Clearly eager to get to work, Mount jokes about getting his boots and running out onto the training pitch – but he has to wait for the time being.
Make sure you return to the United App and website on Thursday for more exclusive content, including Mason’s interview and the players’ return.
In our signing announcement, Mount looked forward to an exciting future as a Red.
“It’s never easy leaving the club where you grew up, but Manchester United will provide an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career,” he said. “Having competed against them, I know just how strong a squad it is that I’m joining, and I can’t wait to be part of this group’s drive to win major trophies.
“Everyone can see that the club has made big steps forward under Erik ten Hag. Having met with the manager and discussed his plans, I couldn’t be more excited for the seasons ahead, and I am ready for the hard work expected here.
“I am hugely ambitious; I know how amazing it feels to win major trophies and what it takes to do it. I will be giving everything to experience that again at Manchester United.”
