Kovar: There is room for improvement
Matej Kovar believes that while Manchester United were good value for our 1-0 friendly win over Lyon, there are areas that the Reds can be even better.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper played the entirety of the pre-season win in Edinburgh and was barely tested by our Ligue 1 opposition.
Following the victory, in an exclusive interview with MUTV, the Czech keeper analysed United's performance.
Kovar: We played some brilliant football
Matej Kovar was quick to praise his United team-mates after the Reds' victory against Lyon...
"It's a good win to be honest," he began.
"We [have] won two games in a row which is always good. We got a clean sheet too, which is good but like I said, I think, especially in the second half, we played some brilliant football and I believe there is also a lot of room for improvements."
Kovar played with a different 10 outfield players in the first half and the second half and said it was a valuable experience to play alongside returning defender Jonny Evans after the interval.
"You could see he has plenty of experience," Kovar said of the 35-year-old, who recently signed a short-term deal with United and will head to San Diego next week for our pre-season clash against Wrexham.
"He has been playing Premier League week in, week out for how many years but you could see the experience he has.
"For a player like me, it is a pleasure to play with a player like that."
Next up for United in pre-season is our first game of Tour 2023 in the USA, against Arsenal in New Jersey.
You can watch the match live on MUTV, where we will provide exclusive access to our pre-season tour throughout the coming weeks.
