It was a close battle but Manchester United's Man of the Match in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Tottenham Hotspur can now be revealed.

In the poll in the United App and on ManUtd.com, some 75 per cent of the votes went to two Reds in particular.

Matthijs de Ligt scooped 40 per cent to narrowly finish top of the poll, ahead of Bryan Mbeumo who was chosen by 35 per cent of those who cast their vote.

De Ligt’s towering header at the back post in the 96th minute from a Bruno Fernandes corner ensured the Reds claimed a point from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and extended our unbeaten run to five matches.

The Dutchman is the only United player to have featured in every second of the Premier League campaign so far and is quietly emerging as one of Ruben Amorim’s most important players.

According to Opta, our no.4 had 58 touches of the ball against Spurs, made six clearances, won 67 per cent of his duels and had a passing accuracy of 86 per cent.

After the game, Matthijs reflected on his pride in how the team fought back after falling behind late on and felt we deserved more from the game.

PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS | Matthijs de Ligt sparked scenes in the away end at Spurs, with his towering header at the death…

"Last year we lost against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham 1-0, but last week and today you see we have the fire in our bellies to fight and get a point,” the centre-back told TNT Sports.

"The season is long, drawing three games is more important than losing. You saw today we are really dangerous, we have a lot of speed up front, we are really stable, we know our strengths and utilise them.

“Today we had more opportunities to get in behind them because they are vulnerable, we played a good game and I think we deserved a little more."

Meanwhile, Mbeumo continued the impressive form which has led to him earning the double prize of both United and the Premier League’s Player of the Month in October.

The brilliant forward headed home his sixth United goal from Amad’s pinpoint cross to open the scoring against Thomas Frank’s side in the 32nd minute and once again was a livewire throughout.

Senne Lammens - who made two superb saves to keep Spurs at bay in the second half - came third with 10 per cent of all selections.

Congratulations to Matthijs and thank you to everyone who voted in our poll.
