United players react to Fosu-Mensah's injury news

Manchester United players Scott McTominay, Marcus Rashford and Donny van de Beek all have wished Tim Fosu-Mensah well, after their friend and former team-mate suffered a serious injury at the weekend.

The Netherlands international made his senior Reds debut back in 2016 and registered 30 appearances in total. While first-team opportunities were rare towards the end, he always remained professional and left the club for Bayer Leverkusen in January with everybody’s best wishes for the future.

Unfortunately, while making a seventh appearance for his new club during a Bundesliga match against Freiburg on Sunday, Fosu-Mensah was forced off at half-time and later confirmed to Dutch football news outlet Voetbalzone he had suffered a cruciate ligament tear.

Bayer Leverkusen have since confirmed the injury themselves...

As many United fans will know, this is now the second time that Tim has suffered an ACL problem during his young career, following a previous setback while playing for Fulham on loan.

Fosu-Mensah must now rely on the same fighting spirit that he showed when recovering at the first time of asking, and he has been backed fully by his former team-mates at Old Trafford.

“You will be back even better Tim,” writes McTominay on his Instagram Story. “You will achieve amazing things in your career. Wishing you all the best.”

Rashford, who made his senior United debut in the same season as Fosu-Mensah, also tweeted to say he is thinking about his friend at this difficult time in his career.

Netherlands international Van de Beek became close friends with Fosu-Mensah after joining United last summer and he is backing his fellow Dutchman.

“Stay strong my brother, I always have your back! I wish you a quick recovery.”

Everybody at Manchester United wishes Timothy well in his recovery.
