Carrick explains Wan-Bissaka absence
Manchester United caretaker manager Michael Carrick has given an update on a number of players who are not in the squad to face Arsenal at Old Trafford.
Both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Nemanja Matic miss out on tonight’s game, with the pair having had injury concerns after featuring in last Sunday's 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Explaining the situation with Aaron, Carrick said: “Hudson-Odoi stood on his hand [in Sunday’s game] so he’s in a fair bit of pain.”
However, he added that while Wan-Bissaka didn’t make it for today, it was “touch and go” – suggesting he could return to face former club Crystal Palace over the weekend.
On the absence of Matic, Carrick said: "Nemanja has picked up a little niggle. He’s felt his hamstring so he’s out.”
Meanwhile, Luke Shaw is absent for the third game in a row. The left-back has recently had concussion, and the caretaker boss says caution is key.
“We're just being careful with Luke, assessing day by day. Hopefully he won’t be too far away.”
