Minute's silence.

Minute's silence ahead of Leeds opener

Thursday 12 August 2021 12:00

Old Trafford will fall silent ahead of the Leeds United match on Saturday as both clubs pay their respect to former players, staff and fans who have passed away since the last time a capacity crowd was inside the stadium.

Saturday’s match will be the first opportunity that United has had since March 2020 for United fans to congregate in a full Old Trafford. And given the number of former players, family members and friends who have passed away in that time, it will be appropriate for both clubs to pause for a moment of reflection prior to the season kicking off in earnest.

Both sets of players will gather round the centre-circle prior to kick-off and fans will be asked to join them in a minute’s silence as they remember those no longer with us.
