Van de Beek feels the warmth of the fans

Donny van de Beek has explained how the warmth and support of the Old Trafford crowd always gives him a boost.

The Manchester United midfielder is a popular figure with the fans and he will look to feature in our next outing, the Carabao Cup tie against Burnley before Christmas, after being part of the squad that took part in a training camp in Spain last week.

The Dutchman played three times for Erik ten Hag's team in November, including in the 4-2 win over Aston Villa in the competition. However, he was forced to withdraw from our most recent friendly, the defeat to Real Betis.

Our Dutch midfielder explains what the famous stadium means to him...

Taking part in our 'My Old Trafford' series, Donny explained how he wants to repay the supporters' faith with his performances out on the pitch.

"A full Old Trafford," he said. "I just can't explain it. It's just a nice experience and a nice feeling.

"It [the fans singing my name] always gives you confidence and a good feeling. Yeah, it's really nice and it gives you more energy. I just try to do my best and give everything and it gives a good feeling that they like me. I try to give them as much as possible that I have."

Van de Beek found it difficult to pick out one individual game as his best experience, and he will hope for an appreciative audience for the team when United take on Burnley and then Nottingham Forest, in our first Premier League match following the restart.

“That’s a hard one," he said, when asked to choose the most memorable atmosphere. "Many, many games – I can’t say really one. Most of the time, it’s an amazing atmosphere in the stadium, when we play at home. And the away fans as well.

"I have to say, every time, you can hear them, even in the game, and that’s a good sign and a nice feeling.”
