Matic sets the tone for our 2021/22 season
As one of Manchester United's most senior players, Nemanja Matic is keen to set the tone for our 2021/22 season: to challenge on every front, and this time to bring home some silverware.
The experienced Serbian midfielder explains that ambition during his big interview for the September edition of Inside United magazine, which is available to buy and order from today.
Matic knows exactly what it takes to win major trophies and is 100 per cent convinced our young, improving squad can achieve great success in this coming campaign. Indeed, he believes the lessons of last season will fuel the group to kick on once again, after making improvements in 2020/21.
“I think we made a step forward,” says Nema in his extensive Q&A. “As you know, we didn’t win the Europa League at the end, but I think we made a step forward and the team is improving.
“The most important thing is everyone can see that we are improving and that we play better and better, and especially now we have such a good squad. In every position we have two or three top-class players. Everyone needs to be positive and the target for us this season needs to be a trophy.”
For Matic, his personal ambition has always been to win the Premier League title at Old Trafford and he is increasingly confident of a serious challenge this season. “Yes, the Premier League for me is always the most important trophy, in my opinion,” he tells Inside United.
