Matic: Let's keep going now

Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic was delighted with Saturday’s 4-1 win over Newcastle and says the Reds are now looking to kick on ahead of a busy schedule to come.

United ended the day at the top of the Premier League following a convincing win over the Magpies at Old Trafford, a game in which the Serbian played the 90 minutes at the heart of the midfield.

The victory, on our return from the international break, backed up a solid and unbeaten start to the season in the Premier League for Matic and co, who picked up seven points from a possible nine in August and another three on Saturday.

Our no.31 particularly enjoyed our latest win, over the Magpies, and is targeting more of the same over the coming months as the Reds continue with the challenges ahead.

"It was exciting, hopefully we're going to continue to do the same job and try to win some trophies this season [for the fans],” he told MUTV’s Stewart Gardner post-match.

"It was fantastic [the atmosphere]. Obviously, [Cristiano] Ronaldo brings some positive energy to the stadium again. They deserve all the best."
Matic hopes that Ronaldo’s arrival can continue to please the fans, after our no.7 netted a brace on his return to the club.

"He has the quality to score goals from every position, I think he will be a very good addition to our squad," he said.

The Portuguese is the latest addition to what Nemanja believes is a very strong and balanced United squad across the board. And he insists that the quality and depth of the group will stand us in good stead for the months to come.

"I think we have a great attack. We also have a great balance between experience and young players, so I think we have everything in the team. We need to use that.

"Healthy competition is always good. You need competition to win trophies so I'm very happy.

"We will play every three days, so we have a big squad, we have to use that. I think everyone is ready, excited, motivated. I can't see any reason why we won't be a success this season."
