Manchester United is delighted to announce that three Academy players have signed new contracts with the club.

Forwards Joe Hugill and Charlie McNeill have both agreed long-term contracts after enjoying successful first seasons in the Academy.

Goalkeeper Paul Woolston has signed a one-year deal and will begin his fourth season with United.

Joe Hugill made his first appearance for the senior team in pre-season.
Hugill has spent the last week with the first-team at their training camp in Surrey while McNeill and Woolston have been preparing for the new campaign with the Academy group up in Edinburgh.

Woolston will continue to be a great influence on his team-mates both on and off the pitch. He played nine times for the Under-23s during the 2020/21 season and will once again be a pivotal part of the Academy’s goalkeeper group.

Droylsden-born McNeill will be looking forward to his second season back with United, having scored more goals than any other player in the Under-18 Premier League last campaign. The striker netted an impressive 25 goals, having featured in 29 games.

Seventeen-year-old Joe Hugill has enjoyed a fantastic week having gained invaluable experience with the first-team coming on as a substitute against Derby County and Queens Park Rangers.

All three players will be looking to hone their talents behind the scenes and maintain their development at the club in the coming months and years.

Paul Woolston signs a new contract at Carrington.

Meanwhile, MUTV are to show highlights of the Under-23s' friendly with Stalybridge Celtic on Wednesday.

Tuesday night's game will be preceded by ex-United skipper Bryan Robson unveiling a plaque to commemorate Bert Whalley, who was a hugely influential figure at both clubs.
