Wednesday 15 December 2021 14:53

The latest issue of official club magazine Inside United has come on sale, with Ralf Rangnick starring on the front cover.

The January 2022 edition then carries every word of the interim manager’s in-depth first interview inside, plus a look at the German’s long and eventful career in coaching and management prior to joining United.

While the mag welcomes Ralf, there are also fond farewells to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick, our two recently departed stalwarts.

Three games in, we reflect on a whirlwind introduction to life at United for our interim boss.

An exclusive interview with Jesse Lingard on his unique Reds pathway leads the player content, backed up by Patrice Evra talking about his pals Cristiano Ronaldo and Ji-Sung Park (and answering other questions), as well as Bryan Robson having a good chinwag with old pal and England (and Middlesbrough) mucker Paul Gascoigne.

Sir Alex Ferguson gets a deserved feature to honour his 80th birthday (coming on 31 December), with snapshots of his extraordinary footballing life taken at previous landmark birthdays – so starting at age 20, as a young striker playing part-time for St Johnstone in the Scottish top-flight while also working as a tool-maker, to age 30 (an experienced player by now, at Falkirk), to age 40 (now in management with Aberdeen) and so on.

When it comes to match coverage the issue packs it in, with previews of all the Premier League games coming up over the hectic festive spell – plus a separate focus on the Emirates FA Cup to channel that special third-round excitement – as well as a photo retrospective documenting Rangnick’s successful first game as United boss versus Crystal Palace, and analysis of other recent action (including some mind-blowing stats on Ronaldo’s 800-goal milestone).

There’s lots more in the magazine, including reports on the club’s women’s team and from the Academy, a salute to the Salford businessman James W. Gibson 90 years on from his crucial intervention that revived the club’s fortunes, more FA Cup third-round nostalgia, the regular celebrity interview (actor Tahj Miles, look out for him in the Death in Paradise Christmas special on BBC One on Boxing Day!), the quiz and more.

Inside United January 2022 issue is on sale in newsagents and shops, at the Megastore, around Old Trafford on matchdays, and can also be bought online (or subscribed to) here.
