From the Cruyff Courts to Old Trafford
Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee may only be 23, but he has a lot of life experience already.
After Zirkzee's family moved to Spijkenisse from Schiedam - his birthplace - when he was a child, the youngster quickly became aware of 'Cruyff Courts'.
Named after the Dutch icon Johann, due to being set up by his Foundation, the small pitches helped our new striker develop technique and close control that is not usually associated with someone who is 6ft 4 inches tall.
Speaking in his exclusive signing interview after signing for United - via Bayern Munich and Bologna - the 23-year-old recalls his childhood and how it shaped him into who he is today.
Signing Interview: Joshua Zirkzee
After he made an instant impact on his debut, this is what Joshua had to say when he first signed for the Reds...
"As a young boy growing up, playing mostly with tougher, bigger guys who are older than you, makes you adapt," he said.
"I think it's something that you learn at a young age in Holland. Especially where I'm from, this was the case."
Dedicated to his passion, Joshua would sometimes miss the curfew given by his mother in order to prolong his games.
"I hope she forgives me now for all the times I came home late!" he added.
"Or if I broke something in the backyard or at home.
"So, eventually, it all worked out pretty well.
"But, yeah, that was just life back when I was younger.
"Play football, forget about the time and getting back home late. But it turned out pretty well."
