Nikita Parris celebrates one of her goals against Everton

Attacking duo grab chance for United Women

Manchester United Women head into Sunday’s WSL clash with West Ham United buoyed by a comprehensive 7-0 Continental Tyres Cup win over Everton in midweek.

Nikita Parris bagged a hat-trick in that game against her former club to take her early-season tally to five, the same total as fellow forward Rachel Williams, who was also on target against the Toffees at Leigh Sports Village.

Parris had opened her account with a brace in last month’s league victory over the same opposition, while Williams has now netted in three consecutive games, having hit a double of her own in that 5-0 triumph over the Merseysiders, followed by a last-gasp equaliser at Brighton & Hove Albion in our last league encounter.

Both in-form attackers feature in our latest limited-edition digital collectible to mark this weekend’s game, which you can claim until kick-off on Sunday (around 14:00 GMT) by clicking the image below or visiting collectibles.manutd.com.

Boss Marc Skinner admitted on Friday it was great to have a growing “selection headache” as several players compete for places in his unbeaten side’s forward line.

Geyse also opened her account for the campaign on Thursday after coming off the bench, while her fellow summer signing Melvine Malard – the third player in this week’s collectible design – has already contributed important goals for the Reds, as have established forwards Leah Galton and Lucia Garcia.

"It’s a welcome problem,” Skinner said. “When we have played before we have not necessarily had that fluid performance.

"What is key is that we are actually picking up and getting better from when we were at Brighton [last Sunday]. We drew against Brighton but we created as many chances as we did against Everton.

"I have asked the players to be ruthless in both boxes and I felt we were. Credit to all the players.”

The free-scoring form of United’s frontline, including Champions League winner Parris and experienced striker Williams, has mitigated the summer departures of Alessia Russo and Martha Thomas.

Former Leicester City youth player Williams, in particular, has impressed with all four of her league goals so far coming as a substitute in just 112 minutes of football. It’s a familiar story, as five of the six strikes in her debut campaign at United in 2022/23 came off the bench.

Parris, meanwhile, is already well on her way to surpassing her season’s best tally for United of nine goals, which she recorded last term.
