April's Player of the Month nominees revealed
There is no shying away from the fact that April 2022 was not a vintage period for Manchester United, but there remain three standout contenders for our Player-of-the-Month award.
We can confirm that David De Gea, Nemanja Matic and Cristiano Ronaldo are all up for our penultimate prize of the season, and only your votes will decide which of the three Reds will prevail.
If you want to have a say, then all you need to do is choose your preferred candidate in the poll below and we will announce the winner on Monday, ahead of the Premier League match against Brentford at Old Trafford.

DAVID DE GEA
The Spanish goalkeeper has won our award on three occasions this season already – November to January - and he is a contender once again, after maintaining his good form in trying circumstances.
The no.1's standout saves in April include an acrobatic effort to deny a goal-bound header from Leicester City's Wesley Fofana, who was stunned to see that he had not scored at Old Trafford.

The likes of Everton's Richarlison, Norwich City's Milot Rashica, Arsenal's Martin Odegaard and Chelsea's Kai Havertz were also thwarted in style, as fans will no doubt recall.
It is not performance-related, but you may also be interested to know that De Gea climbed United’s all-time appearances chart during the month and moved into 12th place above the great Roy Keane.

NEMANJA MATIC
The Serbian midfielder announced that he will leave the club at the end of this season and his performances have been commended by supporters, who applauded him off on several occasions.
Matic has been something of a squad player this campaign, but his qualities were needed across April with regular starters Fred, Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba all injured at different points.
Nemanja’s standout moments include two impressive assists for Ronaldo in back-to-back matches: providing an inch-perfect cross against Arsenal before an imaginative scoop versus Chelsea.

CRISTIANO RONALDO
The Portuguese was injured for the draw with Leicester and could not prevent a defeat to Everton, but he showed his talismanic powers by scoring a hat-trick in the win over Norwich. Incredibly, it was a 60th treble of his illustrious career and half of those have been registered after his 30th birthday.
A family tragedy meant that Ronaldo understandably missed our trip to Liverpool, but he bravely returned against Arsenal and produced another excellent display, scoring his 100th Premier League goal on what was clearly an emotional day for him. He also had one disallowed for offside.
Ronaldo concluded April by scoring his 24th goal of the season in the draw with Chelsea, by perfectly controlling a Matic high ball to unleash an unstoppable finish in front of the Stretford End.
Cristiano has claimed our Player-of-the-Month prize on three occasions this season and will no doubt hope to earn a fourth.
