Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that Tim Fosu-Mensah will be allowed to leave the club in January, should the right club come in for him.

The Dutch defender joined the United Academy from Ajax in 2014 and he has played 30 times for the Reds, with his most recent appearance coming as a substitute against RB Leipzig in December.

Tim has featured three times for United this season, with his only start coming against Crystal Palace in the Premier League back in September.

Ole confirms one player that will be involved and another who is definitely out, due to a positive COVID-19 test.

Ole was asked on Friday about the Dutchman’s future and whether or not he’ll leave during the January transfer window.

“I'm not sure if Timo is going to stay or [if] he's going to take an option now,” the manager said.

“He's not played enough, so of course he's been allowed to speak to clubs, with a view to leaving now in January. It's difficult when you've got good players, talented players, and you can't give them game time.”

The Norwegian went on to praise Fosu-Mensah's professionalism, despite his lack of minutes for the first team so far this season.

“He's now at the stage where he needs to go and play again.

“It might be [at the] end of January, or it might be in the summer that he finds somewhere else. So he's working hard, Tim, he's ready for a move for any club that he feels ready for.”

During his time at the club, Fosu-Mensah has had two loan spells in London, at Crystal Palace and then Fulham.

Like Marcus Rashford, our no. 24 - who has been capped three times by his country - made his Premier League debut against Arsenal in February 2016.
