Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during a training session in Perth, Australia.

Ole looking for more x-factor talent

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stressed that nationality is not important when it comes to identifying potential targets at Manchester United.

The Reds have been linked with young, British talent after already landing Wales international Daniel James and England Under-21 international Aaron Wan-Bissaka during the summer window.

However, the boss has indicated that he is seeking players with certain attributes rather than merely focusing on their passports.

Ole is all smiles in training in Australia.

Ahead of the first pre-season match of Tour 2019 against Perth Glory, he told MUTV: “It doesn’t matter if they are English, Norwegian, French, Brazilian. You just want good players and good people. Quality and speed, of course, is a big thing in football nowadays. The more x-factors you have in a team, the better you are.”

Both of Ole's signings, James and Wan-Bissaka, are clearly very quick so fit the criteria that Solskjaer is looking for in order to bring a vibrant look to his line-up next term.

When asked if James was the fastest player he has seen, Ole replied: “Maybe Aaron Wan-Bissaka! The two of them do have top, top speed. Modern football is stop-start, it is go again, speed, tempo, quality. So those two have put their marker down. Of course, with our boys, we have got some quick ones.”

The English transfer window closes on Thursday 8 August, ahead of our Premier League opener against Chelsea at Old Trafford a few days later.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been showing off his pace in training.
