Solskjaer names XI to take on Watford

David De Gea, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Bruno Fernandes, Daniel James, Fred and Mason Greenwood all come into the side after not starting in the 1-1 draw against Club Brugge in the Europa League on Thursday night.

It is teenager Greenwood’s first start in the Premier League since he scored against Newcastle on Boxing Day.

"Victor [Lindelof] has recovered and we’ll have to give Eric [Bailly] time to settle in and train in between because he needs the training," the manager told MUTV. "That’s one reason. Mason has recovered since not travelling to Brugge and we want to go a bit more attacking with Brandon [Williams] and Mason swapping.

Scott McTominay, who is back from a knee injury, is also in the 18-man squad and starts on the bench against the Hornets.

Tahith Chong and former Watford striker Odion Ighalo are also among the substitutes, but there is no place for Jesse Lingard or Andreas Pereira.

"We picked a squad of 18 and we felt it was the right 18 here," added Ole. "We’ve got cover on the bench for wide men, forwards, midfielders and defenders, so that was the decision I made.

"It says everything about Scott that he played a full half with a torn ligament [against Newcastle]. He’s recovered really quickly. He’s been doing everything to get back. He’s looking stronger and fitter. He wanted to play today but we need to manage him properly."

There are four ex-Reds in the visiting squad - Ben Foster and Craig Cathcart start, while Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck are on the bench.
