Solskjaer: It's an important week for us
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stressed the importance of having a week away from Carrington to bond ahead of the new campaign.
The Reds are based in Surrey in the lead up to our next pre-season friendly, Saturday's 15:00 BST kick-off at QPR, which is being shown live on MUTV.
With Scott McTominay and Daniel James added to those on duty in the 2-1 win over Derby County, the planning is continuing behind the scenes with double sessions aimed at improving the players' fitness.
“It’s a decision we made. Of course, we drive up the road and have great facilities at Carrington, but it is special to have that pre-season tour feeling.
“The intensity of training will be good,” the manager added. “It’s always great when you get through a hard week of training and then maybe the weather cools down a little bit and you feel so much stronger as a player and you feel you can run more.
“It’s an important week for us.”
Some 27 players are working in the sunshine in Surrey, including plenty of youngsters who will be revelling in the experience.
United head back north after the QPR clash to prepare for a first friendly at Old Trafford, against newly promoted Brentford. This is followed by a trip to Preston North End on the final day of July before another home warm-up fixture, with Rafa Benitez's Everton on Saturday 7 August.
All the friendlies are being screened on MUTV – with an offer of 12 months for the price of six still available.
The big Premier League kick-off for the Reds takes place a week later, with Leeds United the visitors.
