It's not every day that an Olympic gold medallist comes to Old Trafford.

On Sunday, before our Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur, Keely Hodgkinson was presented to the crowd in M16 with her gold medal from the Paris 2024 games around her neck.

From Atherton in Greater Manchester and a devout Red since birth, the 800m champion explained how much it means to have the backing of the club she has supported her whole life.

Olympic champion and United fan Keely Hodgkinson was proud to bring her gold medal back to Old Trafford on Sunday...

"It is amazing," she said.

"I think it is amazing to mix sports and know that in another sport you still have that same support.

"For a team like Manchester United, who are so world-famously known and that I have supported my entire life, to welcome me back and show me that support is really, really nice."

Keely's 800m final gained plenty of attention in the summer, with the 22-year-old pouring with emotion after she achieved her dream at the Stade de France.

As you'd expect from an elite athlete, she is not letting up.

"I could feel the pressure and the excitement, and I really wanted it to happen. It was controlling that and when it all came true I had thought about that moment for so long.

"It was a really surreal moment and me and my team worked really hard for it, so it was good to celebrate with them.

Ella went to the same school as Olympic gold medallist Keely, who sensationally won the 800m final on Monday night.

"I have had a whirlwind few weeks doing some opportunities that are really fantastic.

"I will be back training soon and still have some big goals to achieve so I am looking forward to it."
