Our first trip to the Subway Women’s League Cup final ended in a heartbreaking defeat.

This season has already been one of huge progress.

We are preparing for a UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich in our first full European campaign – a huge achievement that underlines our rapid development on the continental stage.

Domestically, we remain in a strong position, currently sitting second in the WSL, driven by the resilience, ambition and togetherness that define our squad.

Manchester United CEO, Omar Berrada, said: “Although Sunday’s result is disappointing, it does not take away from the enormous progress this team continues to make. Reaching another major final shows the strides we are taking, and we are immensely proud of the players, staff for their incredible efforts, and supporters who have been with us every step of the way.

“This group is building something special, and Sunday only strengthens our belief in what we can achieve together.”

Sunday's final didn't go our way, but this young and exciting group is determined to finish the season strongly.

Manchester United Director of Women’s Football, Matt Johnson, said: “This team has shown outstanding resilience and growth throughout the season, and that was clear again on Sunday. Reaching a cup final and competing at this level is a sign of the direction we’re heading in. From our first Champions League campaign to our league performances, the players and staff have embraced every challenge.

“While it wasn’t our day, it is a reminder of how far we’ve come – and how much more we are capable of.”

United Women head coach Marc Skinner said: “Naturally, we are disappointed with the result but we have to use that frustration to fuel the rest of the season. We go again on Wednesday against West Ham and as a team we will grow from the experience. I am proud of how far we have come together and we will keep pushing ourselves to keep making history.”

Thank you to everybody who supported the teams on Sunday, in Bristol and around the world.
