A new season awaits: welcome back to Old Trafford

Friday 16 August 2024 11:00

We’re looking forward to welcoming supporters back to Old Trafford tonight for our first home fixture of 2024/25, against Fulham FC.

As you will be aware, this season we are introducing in-app tickets at Old Trafford. This means the Manchester United official app will house all home Premier League and cup fixtures, and seasonal parking tickets, going forward.

We understand that this is a change from how we have previously operated, but it is a crucial step to help further protect our fans from being exploited by touting and will significantly improve our ticket security for all match-going supporters.

We listened to your feedback and implemented this approach over time, with successful pilots during the 2023/24 season, in addition to stadium entry via app tickets at Wembley last weekend.

Get ready for the new season, as we answer the key questions on Old Trafford's new system for supporters.

It is important to us that our supporters get the right support during this transition and enjoy a smooth entry to the stadium on Friday. To help support this, we have asked all ticket holders to access their match ticket on their registered mobile device before travelling to Old Trafford. Ticket QR codes were released for Friday’s fixture at 8pm on Thursday (15 August).

We also advise that supporters arrive at the stadium earlier than usual to prevent any congestion or delays at the turnstiles. We’ll be handing out three shirts to supporters inside the stadium bowl between 6.30 and 7.30pm. Our ticket office will be open and our “here to help” stewards will be deployed across the stadium footprint to help resolve any queries you have.

In addition to the on-ground support, we have also created a dedicated support hub hosted on the website to help supporters navigate the app, including Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), video guides and tutorials.

As part of our commitment to continually improve the matchday experience for our fans, we have undertaken a huge programme of summer works in Old Trafford, including:

  • A redesign of the Old Trafford player tunnel for the first time since 1993
  • We have replaced Executive Club seating in the Stretford End with general admission seating following fan feedback and in conjunction with the Fans’ Forum
  • This season will see a dedicated youth section in the Stretford End for 500 supporters aged 16-25 aligned with our continued investment in the next generation of United supporters
  • Installation of rail seating in the North West Quadrant, increasing our safe-standing seating capacity across the stadium (in addition to North East Quadrant and away section)
  • The opening of two new hospitality spaces: The United Road Bar and Devils Bar
  • Stadium concourse and kiosk refurbishment to improve waiting times and service offering for fans on matchday, and continued fixed prices on our stadium draught beer

Our ongoing engagement with our recognised fan bodies, including our Fans’ Advisory Board, Fans’ Forum and MUST, will remain crucial to our aim of bringing our fans and club closer together. This will include working collaboratively with these bodies on the future of Old Trafford as we progress the project with the Task Force.

Thank you for your loyal support. We look forward to welcoming you back to Old Trafford this evening, and we are excited about the upcoming season – both on and off the pitch.
