Ruben Amorim is on the cover of United Review this Thursday, to mark his first Old Trafford match as Manchester United’s head coach.

Our new Portuguese boss is pictured smiling from pitchside at the Theatre of Dreams, with a quote summing up his philosophy to transforming our great club:

“I have one word: team. The team is the most important thing for me.”

While this is not a special edition of United Review in the traditional sense, the first matchday programme of a new era is always symbolic and highly sought after.

HEAD COACH’S NOTES

In his first column written to match-going fans, Ruben highlights the connection he feels to United and the importance of harnessing our incomparable history.

“To be writing my first programme notes as head coach of Manchester United is an honour and a privilege,” writes Amorim.

“It took a lot for me to leave Sporting, but everybody recognises the lure of Manchester United and, from the moment I began talking with the club’s representatives, I felt a connection that made it impossible to refuse this opportunity.

“I honestly feel that I am where I am supposed to be, and I promise that I will do everything I can to put this club where it needs to be.

“I know, of course, that there is a lot of work to be done here. It is a huge responsibility, but I have the clear sense that everyone involved with Manchester United is so hungry and determined to succeed.

“The unique history of this club is known around the world but, when I arrived in Manchester, I took the Old Trafford tour and it gave me a feeling that I want everyone to have: to remember who we are, and what that means.”
