Amazing fans can be worth two extra men!

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick admits he has been taken aback by the level of the club's support and he firmly believes it is one of our biggest assets.

The travelling Reds will appreciate a first trip to Elland Road, for them, in the Premier League since 2003 and then a sojourn to Spain for the Champions League round-of-16 tie at Atletico Madrid.

It is reassuring for everybody to know the level of backing that will be provided on both occasions and it is a privilege not lost on Rangnick, for all his experience of life in the Bundesliga.

“I mean, I must say, quite apart from Schalke at the time, but what I have experienced so far in England, it’s just amazing," admitted the boss, in his pre-match interview with club media. "It is absolutely fantastic. It is as though you play with a 12th or 13th player!

“Massive support from the supporters, this is still one of the biggest assets the club has. The passion and the way that the supporters really are behind our team and behind our club is a big advantage to us.

“We have to take out of the advantage the best that we can get, by showing them on the pitch that we are committed," he continued. "That we are desperate to win the games, that we meet their expectations.

“I mean, what they really want to see on the pitch is our energy, our togetherness and this is what I said, this is the only thing that we have to deliver every single day, no matter what competition. That they realise how much every player wants to win and get the best for their club.”
