United Women hit another ticketing milestone

Saturday 18 November 2023 12:00

Over 45,000 tickets have now been sold for United Women’s much-anticipated WSL match against Manchester City at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Have you secured your seats for the historic occasion yet? Act now to avoid disappointment: they’re priced £15 for adults and £7.50 for fans aged under 16 or over 65. Fans can purchase tickets right up until the 16:30 GMT kick-off, either online or by visiting the ticket office.

This weekend is the first time this fixture has been held at the Theatre of Dreams and, as ever, our fans are stepping up. The record attendance for a United Women fixture so far is 30,196 for the visit of Aston Villa last season, so we are set for a new high on Sunday.

Before the occasion, have a read of what the Reds are saying…

‘STAND ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS’

Marc Skinner:
“When we first played at Old Trafford it felt a little bit alien but now it doesn’t feel like that. I think a lot of players actually support Manchester United so they have been there. Now we rock up and it’s more business like. When we get to Old Trafford it’s about utilising the history of our club, all the massive moments that have happened on that pitch but it’s also about making our own moments. Our team within this club doesn’t have to just follow in the greats, it can produce it’s own narrative. We need to stand on the shoulders of those giants who have come before but also add our own stamp.”
‘WINNING IS THE MAIN THING’

Katie Zelem:
“The Manchester derby is one of the fixtures you look for [at the start of the season] and for it to be at Old Trafford makes it even more special. Representing United as a childhood fan is a dream come true but to play at Old Trafford, to captain the girls and score there is just an indescribable feeling. It is something that all the girls want to experience and to get a win at Old Trafford for us is the main thing. That's what we will be looking to do on Sunday. We are really excited for the occasion.”
‘PAINT THE TOWN RED’

Leah Galton:
“It’s amazing really. Not only do they get to come and watch us perform and play against City – and paint the town red, of course – but it’s an experience.  It’s so different to Leigh. Leigh is amazing but a change of scenery is also nice with a bigger number of fans. You can hear the fans everywhere inside Old Trafford, it’s a special place. It echoes and it’s an unbelievable feeling when you score. Hopefully we can go and smash it, and smash that attendance record too.”

Rise to the occasion!

‘OUR PREPARATION IS THE SAME’

Hayley Ladd:
“In terms of our preparation, I think we’re quite in the mindset of nothing changes in-house. Everyone is in agreement that we keep everything the same and just try to make sure we’re stepping it up on the pitch - but nothing else changes. Our performances have all been good enough recently and we just want to emulate those and put that onto the pitch on Sunday.”
