Dorgu crowned January's Player of the Month
Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu has won Manchester United's Player of the Month trophy for the first time.
The Denmark international, who joined from Lecce a year ago, enjoyed a marvellous start to 2026, hot on the heels of scoring his maiden goal for the Reds, in the Boxing Day victory over Newcastle United.
Thriving in a more advanced position, he has been in outstanding form and managed to beat off competition from fellow nominees Matheus Cunha and Bruno Fernandes for the award.
Dorgu started the new year with a combative display in the 1-1 draw at Leeds United, relishing his first appearance at Elland Road and setting up a Cunha shot that hit a post with a driving run.
A few days later, he supplied a fine cross for Benjamin Sesko to score his second goal in the 2-2 draw away to Burnley, after starting on the left wing.
Since Michael Carrick's arrival as head coach, he has found the net in back-to-back games.
The 21-year-old showed great anticipation to meet Cunha's cross from the right, and beat Gianluigi Donnarumma, to register the killer goal in the 2-0 derby win against Manchester City.
Although Fernandes pipped him to the Man of the Match accolade on that occasion, Dorgu was voted star performer in our last outing, the memorable 3-2 triumph at Premier League leaders Arsenal.
He smashed a Goal of the Season contender to edge us 2-1 in front and impressive until forced off due to injury.
Congratulations to Patrick, after he was runner-up to Bruno Fernandes back in September, and we're wishing you a speedy return to action.
