Paul Pogba celebrates after scoring at Villa Park

How practice made perfect for Pogba

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba revealed he has been practicing the type of low, placed shot that he netted in Thursday’s win over Aston Villa.

The Frenchman hit an inch-perfect strike to bag our final goal - and 100th of the season - in the 3-0 win over the Villans and revealed after the game that he’s been working on that type of effort during the week.

Paul also explained how he used his knowledge of Villa stopper Pepe Reina to his advantage.
“Today I just had one shot and I kind of know the goalkeeper and I’ve been trying it in training,”
he told Sky Sports post-match.

“I’ve been trying to score in the last games but it didn’t come, and today it arrived. I’m just really pleased to help the team as much as I can.”

That win means United set a new Premier League record and have become the first side in the competition’s history to win four consecutive matches by three or more goals.

“We are really pleased with ourselves, but we know we have to carry on,”
insisted Pogba.
“We say before training that we have to carry on. That’s what Manchester United is and we want to keep the level up always.

“The performance today and in the last weeks has been very good and that’s the standard of Manchester United.

“I’ve been injured for a very long time and I just focused on myself, getting back and helping the team as much as I can,” Paul added on his own form.

“This year we have two goals: to win the Europa League and the FA Cup. So we focus on that.

“We didn’t win the Premier League and that’s the goal. We didn’t win anything [so far] this year and there’s a lot still to do.

The result ensures the Reds’ Champions League destiny is still in our own hands, with a final-day clash against Leicester City meaning we could overturn the Foxes’ current one-point advantage.

“We can be our own enemy,”
our no.6 commented on the top-four race.
“We have to play, not like we did in the first 15 minutes, but how we finished the game - we have to carry on like this.”
