Three in frame for Player of the Month
The shortlist for Manchester United's Player of the Month for March has been released.
Bruno Fernandes, Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford are the nominees, and please make your say count by voting in our poll. We will be unveiling the winner on Thursday afternoon.
All three would be worthy recipients of the trophy, which Marcus won in December, January and February.
Rashford scored in two of the six games across March, both against Real Betis. The forward slammed in a spectacular opener in the 4-1 first-leg win at Old Trafford and scored the only goal of the away tie in Seville with a beautiful shot, earning our Man-of-the-Match award in the process.
His bid to make it four awards in a row is likely to be under threat from both Fernandes and Martinez.
Bruno put his all into the games and was star man, and a scorer with a header, in the Europa League clash with Betis at Old Trafford. The Portugal international was also Man of the Match when bagging a brace in the Emirates FA Cup victory over Fulham, keeping his nerve from the spot, with only his second penalty for the Reds this season, and then belting home in injury time.
Our no.8 also influenced Nayef Aguerd's own goal against West Ham with a dangerous corner delivery, and Rashford's strike in the 4-1 success against Betis, while he has continued to be at the heart of a lot of the team's creativity.
Martinez has been consistent all season and this is the third time he has been nominated for the award. The Argentina international was our first monthly winner of the campaign, when collecting August's accolade ahead of fellow defenders Tyrell Malacia and Raphael Varane.
The centre-back was excellent in ensuring the Reds kept clean sheets against Betis (away) and Southampton, and helped United turn around the FA Cup tie with West Ham United when coming off the bench just before the hour mark, with the team trailing 1-0.
All three of our nominees have a strong claim for the monthly accolade, with their combined influence covering the entire pitch. Please get involved and look out for the result!
