And the winner is... Rashford!

Wednesday 28 October 2020 23:20

Marcus Rashford was the runaway winner of our Man of the Match poll, after Manchester United's 5-0 victory over RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League.

The homegrown hero was only introduced off the bench, in place of opening goalscorer Mason Greenwood, on 63 minutes, but in his half-an-hour on the pitch he caused havoc for the German defenders, registering his first-ever United hat-trick.

It was the first treble by a United substitute since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's famous four against Nottingham Forest in February 1999 and consisted of three well-taken finishes, the first of which was originally flagged for offside before VAR intervened.

The second came after a mistake by the hitherto impressive Dayot Upamecano, before the matchball was secured in injury-time with a powerful strike.

Marcus's hat-trick means he has now bagged seven goals so far in 2020/21 from just nine appearances in all competitions, while he has scored five in the last four matches for United.

His brilliant performance against Leipzig certainly caught the eye of Official App users, with our no.10 taking home an incredible 73 per cent of your vote.

The only other Red to garner double figures in terms of percentages was Fred, and you can see the rundown below...

MAN OF THE MATCH v RB LEIPZIG

Fred - 11 per cent
Paul Pogba - 3 per cent
