Confirmed start and end dates for 2021/22 season

Thursday 25 March 2021 14:10

The Premier League has issued a statement via their official website that reveals when the 2021/22 season will start and end.

Released this afternoon, the update confirms the new campaign will commence on 14 August 2021 and the final matches will take place on 22 May 2022, when all games will kick off simultaneously.

These dates are a return to what fans have become accustomed to over the years, following the notable changes that were made to this ongoing 2020/21 season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

For example, the current campaign has been condensed and it began for the majority of clubs on 12 September, much later than usual, with United and a few other sides even starting a week later on 19 September.

This current season is scheduled to finish on 23 May and the rescheduled European Championship will then take place in the summer, starting on 11 June and ending on 11 July.

That means there is a five-week gap between the tournament and the new Premier League season beginning.

SEASON TICKET PLANS FOR 2021/22

On Wednesday, the club's Season Ticket plans were announced for 2021/22, which include a price freeze, a range of support measures to provide financial flexibility and a renewal timetable.

Twelve months have passed since fans last attended Old Trafford. However, the UK government’s COVID-19 response plan for this spring, published last month, has enabled the club to plan for next season with the potential for a return to normal operations at Old Trafford on the horizon.
