Why the summer transfer window will be unusual
ArticleThings are changing in June 2025 when it comes to doing any close-season business.
Although the dates will still be subject to change due to television coverage, the broad outlook of the programme means it is traditionally an exciting time for all supporters.
The first match round is due to begin on Saturday 16 August, although previous campaigns have got under way on the Friday night.
The schedule features 33 weekend and five midweek slots.
The Premier League has reiterated its pledge to restrict fixture congestion around the festive period and there will be no games on Christmas Eve (24 December).
Things will all be wrapped up on Sunday 24 May 2026, in time to allow preparation for the players involved at the World Cup finals in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
