Who will United play over Christmas?
Playing over the Christmas period is one of the great traditions of English football.
And, after the Premier League released its fixtures for the 2024/25 season on Tuesday morning, we now know Manchester United's opposition at the end of December and the start of January.
Arrangements have been made by the governing body of England's top-flight to address the congested schedule, meaning teams will be allowed more rest time over three of the festive match rounds, with no club playing within 60 hours of another match.
Unlike last season, there will be no games on Christmas Eve but there are still some big games for Reds supporters to look forward to, although dates and kick-off times are still subject to change.
Revealed: United's 24/25 Premier League fixtures
ArticleErik ten Hag's Reds will begin and end the new league campaign at Old Trafford.
United's final fixture before Christmas sees us host Bournemouth at Old Trafford, on Saturday 21 December.
The Cherries enjoyed an impressive 2023/24 campaign under Andoni Iraola, securing a third consecutive season in the Premier League, with their 3-0 win at the Theatre of Dreams in December 2023 among their most notable victories.
On Boxing Day, we will travel to Molineux to take on Gary O'Neil's Wolverhampton Wanderers, who we beat home and away last term, although both were narrow successes.
While the Black Country club have been regular opposition for United at this time of year, you'd have to go back to a goalless draw at Old Trafford in 1969 for the last time we faced them on 26 December.
Three days later, we're back in M16 to welcome Newcastle United for what will be the final game of 2024.
The Magpies finished one place above us last season, although we beat Eddie Howe's side 3-2 at Old Trafford in May and did deny the north-east club a place in Europe with our Emirates FA Cup final triumph.
Then, 2025 begins in the grand manner as we are scheduled to make a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool on Saturday 4 January.
It's all change for the Merseysiders next season, with Arne Slot replacing Jurgen Klopp as manager, and United are due a win in L4 - the last time we came away from our arch-rivals with all three points was in the first month of 2016.
Our defence of the FA Cup begins on the weekend of 11 January, when the third-round fixtures take place.
