Radek Vitek admitted he was unhappy with how the Reds were beaten, following our 1-0 pre-season reverse to Rosenborg.

Erik ten Hag's side were tested throughout the encounter with Vitek making a string of fine stops, as he kept the home side at bay for 92 minutes before their ultimate breakthrough.

Having played the full game from start to finish, the Czech Republic international amplified his disappointment regarding the result, but also reflected on a chance to impress.

Vitek spent the second half of the 2023/24 season with Accrington Stanley and is bidding to make an impression on Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff this summer.

Vitek: We should aim higher

Radek Vitek says that while he was happy with some of his saves against Rosenborg, the defeat is disappointing...

"We are disappointed as I feel like we should always aim for a win, the manager said we don't play friendlies as it is in our DNA. We should demand more," began Vitek, when he spoke to MUTV post-match.

"We are building up now as it is only our first week of pre-season, so we are still waiting for some more boys [to arrive back] from their internationals.

"But as I said, in the end, all that matters is winning."

With the boss opting to change his whole outfield starting XI at the interval, Vitek was the only Red to complete a full 90 minutes in Trondheim.

Rosenborg registered 19 shots across the encounter in total, with the 20-year-old putting on a fine show in front of over 20,000 supporters in Norway.

Radek says he is happy that so much trust is being placed in our young players by the boss.

Reds goalkeeper Radek will spend the rest of 2023/24 gaining experience with an EFL club.

"It is really good that the young lads are getting the opportunity as when you step on the field you have to show yourself," added Vitek.

"It is a big opportunity in front of a lot of people that are watching you. You have to demand the best from yourself.

"It is an amazing feeling as the fans have been amazing. Lots of them at our hotel, even in the stadium the crowd was amazing: a full stadium of Red shirts."
