Jadon Sancho scored his second goal in as many home games during Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Southampton, and interim manager Ralf Rangnick was quick to applaud the winger's recent form.

The England international followed up his goal in the Emirates FA Cup tie against Middlesbrough with the opener against the Saints.

Speaking to BT Sport, Rangnick praised Sancho’s performance, which earned our Man-of-the-Match award, as voted by the fans.

He said: “Jadon is in good shape, not only in the first half but also, in the second half, he had his good moments.”

Sancho’s goal came when he arrived at the back post to slot home Marcus Rashford’s low cross after his fellow wide man latched onto a through ball by Bruno Fernandes.

Rangnick expressed his delight at the opener, stating: “It was a great goal, in all aspects of the goal.”

The boss is pleased with the way the 21-year-old has performed for United of late, following his move from Borussia Dortmund last summer.

"With Jadon’s performances in the last couple of games, I’m very pleased," Ralf said. "This is the Jadon we know from the German Bundesliga."

He added: “There is still more space for improvement in him, but the way he is playing right now, it is probably the best Jadon Sancho that Manchester United has seen so far.”

The German furthered his praise for Sancho when speaking to MUTV but maintained the need for the team to improve.
