Shaw injury situation clarified

Luke Shaw was forced off with injury at half-time of Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Leicester City.

The defender was back in the side for the first time since the stalemate with Watford in February after appearing in England's two friendlies during the recent break.

However, he was withdrawn at the interval, following treatment on the pitch, just outside the United area, although he soldiered on until the break.

Why Ronaldo misses the Leicester game

Cristiano is forced to sit out the visit of the Foxes in our return to Premier League action.

"He had some problems last week, when he was with the England team, with his old injury when he had an operation on a broken leg," interim boss Ralf Rangnick told MUTV. "This showed up again today.

"That's the reason why we had to substitute him at half-time."

Rangnick also revealed in his post-match press conference that Jesse Lingard, like Cristiano Ronaldo, who was not in the matchday squad, was ill and not an option to come off the bench.

The midfielder was being sick beforehand and was, therefore, not considered.

"Jesse Lingard couldn't come on because he was sick," explained Rangnick. "He was vomiting before the game. We had all the offensive players we had available on the pitch at the end."
