Ralf: Garnacho is one of the most promising players

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick believes Alejandro Garnacho has the potential to play for the Reds’ first team.

After featuring heavily for both the U23s and U18s so far this season, the Madrid-born winger was named among the substitutes for the match with the Canaries.

Speaking to MUTV ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Norwich City, Rangnick explained the Argentine's inclusion.

He said: “[Garnacho] has been training with us [the first team] for the last two weeks and I know that he is one of the most promising players.

“[He is] still only 17, but a player that hopefully if he keeps his feet on the ground. If he keeps trying to get better every day, then he will not only be sitting on the bench but there is every chance he will be playing for this club."

Garnacho has enjoyed prolific goalscoring form this season, producing notable performances in the Under-18s' FA Youth Cup run.

The Madrid-born winger scored twice in the quarter-final against Leicester City at Old Trafford, having also netted in games against Everton and Scunthorpe United at the Theatre of Dreams.

He also played a key role in helping the Under-19s to the UEFA Youth League last-16.

The Argentine was called up to his national team for the international break in March, having never featured for United's first team.

And the 17-year-old could make his first Premier League appearance, if Rangnick opts to use the attacker from the bench against the Canaries.
