Rangnick's message to Rashford

Ralf Rangnick is hoping Marcus Rashford can replicate his training ground form onto the pitch at Old Trafford against Chelsea.

The Mancunian striker exploded into scoring form this season with three goals in his first four matches of the season, but he has since been on a barren spell since scoring against Brentford and West Ham in January.

However, he starts tonight against Thomas Tuchel’s side, looking to end the campaign on a high.

Asked if he hoped this would be a big night for Rashford our interim boss Rangncik told MUTV. “Yeah I hope so as, often before, he has been good in training and I very much hope, not only for himself but also for the team, that he can also transform that onto the pitch tonight.”

Ralf Rangnick starts with Marcus Rashford in attack for United.

Rashford, of course, is one of our Academy products and Rangnick has named four on the United bench for the penultimate home Premier League match of the season.

Hannibal, Shola Shoretire, Alvaro Fernandez and Alejandro Garnacho are among the seven outfield subs named.

“They’ve been training with us for the last few weeks and it's a great experience for them to be part of the group, it's possible that some of them may even get their first cap tonight.”

On the challenge of facing Chelsea, who appear to be close to full strength, Rangnick added: “They are playing with their best possible starting XI, it will be a tough game and we will have to play as a team.

“The only way to get something out of this game tonight is to fight as a team and play together, be as compact as we can be, be the best defensively and offensively so, whatever we do tonight, we have to do it as a team.”
