Rangnick: Cavani can set a strong example

Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick has indicated the giant role striker Edinson Cavani can play inside the dressing room.

The Uruguayan, who has firmly established himself as one of the more experienced heads amongst the Reds' current playing squad, has a wealth of footballing know-how.

Having made over 600 senior appearances, our no.21 is also very popular with the United faithful and Rangnick believes Cavani’s attitude is something his younger players can benefit from.

''Edi [Cavani] said that I can rely on him until the end of the season and that he will continue to give his very best in order to be a role model for the younger players,'' began the 63-year-old.

''If he should play from the start he is always happy to do so and to give his all, but if even if he is not playing he will try to be the best possible role model for the other players too.''

Having more recently adapted to Rangnick’s favoured 4-2-2-2 system, Cavani has been paired in attack in recent weeks with another seasoned pro in the form of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo.

And with our no.7 an idol for many of our up and coming stars to look up too, Rangnick believes the former PSG forward can also set the tone in terms of what is expect from a United player.

''Edi is one of those players with a very strong mentality. He has vast amounts of experience and a good work ethic that can also set a good example for the rest of the players.''
