Varane: I've spoken to Onana about Old Trafford
Raphael Varane says he has already told Manchester United's recent signing Andre Onana what to expect from the Old Trafford faithful.
The former Real Madrid man had quite the welcome when he was introduced as a United player back in August 2021, with Andre potentially set to walk out for the first time in M16 himself on Saturday afternoon.
Having spoken of the conversations he and Onana have shared in the build-up to our clash with RC Lens, Varane insists it's an occasion he hopes all of our players can relish in.
“So he's ready and I hope every signing is ready for that feeling.
“I think we worked a lot [over the summer] and we are ready. It's the next step to be ready for the start of the season.”
Having so far played six pre-season games, including four on Tour 2023 in the United States, anticipation continues to build ahead of this weekend's double-header.
Varane himself amplified his excitement at being back on home soil, sharing his hopes that the Reds can continue to make Old Trafford something of a fortress - much like last term.
Both games, against RC Lens and then Athletic Club in Dublin, are set to be shown live on MUTV, with the 2023/24 Premier League season now right around the corner.
“It's good to prepare for the season,'' added the former France international.
“We want to be as strong as last season at home, so it's good for us to start playing at Old Trafford this season, even if it is a friendly game.
“I'm sure the atmosphere will be good and we'll create a good energy around the team.”
