Varane sends a message to United supporters

Sunday 15 August 2021 10:44

Raphael Varane was officially unveiled as a Manchester United player on Saturday afternoon and the highly decorated defender has wasted no time in getting to work at Carrington.

The completion of his transfer from Real Madrid was announced as the 28-year-old walked confidently onto the Old Trafford pitch, in front of 75,000 fans, holding aloft his new no.19 shirt

It was an instantly iconic moment that only added to the electric atmosphere inside our beloved Theatre of Dreams and undoubtedly inspired a sensational 5-1 win over rivals Leeds United.
After such a big moment, you would forgive Varane for taking some time to relax and prepare himself for a huge week with his new United team-mates, but that isn’t the style of a legendary winner.

In a sign of his famous determination and hunger to succeed, Raphael is already working hard at the club’s training ground ahead of a potential debut against Southampton in the Premier League next Sunday.

While in the gym at Carrington, Varane was keen to record a personal message for the fans who cheered him so passionately on Saturday, and to those around the world who have already sent thousands of messages of support.

“Hi everyone, I’m very excited to be here,” says Varane.

“Thanks for the atmosphere at Old Trafford - thank you very much. I’m very happy to be here and I’m ready to work hard.”
