Rasmus Hojlund got the perfect gift on his 21st birthday by netting the opener in Manchester United's 3-0 Premier League win over West Ham.

The Denmark hitman latched on to Casemiro's pass, evaded a challenge and fired an unstoppable right-footed shot into the bottom corner, beyond the reach of Hammers keeper Alphonse Areola.

Rasmus faced up to the home fans in the East Stand and appeared to use his left leg as an imaginary guitar, much to the delight of the Old Trafford faithful.

The Theatre of Dreams was certainly rocking and the celebration garnered much attention on social media.

Alejandro Garnacho's second-half brace sealed an important win for Erik ten Hag's side and, when speaking to club media after the triumph over the Hammers, Rasmus provided an insight into why he pulled out the strings on his 21st birthday...

Rasmus Hojlund says that scoring on his 21st birthday was the perfect present...

"When I was with my friends in the summer, they told me I should do it and I hadn't done it," he said.

"He [my friend] reminded me, we had this short spell when I was in Denmark, and he reminded me I should do it.

"It stuck with me and I just thought I would give it a chance."

"I am not even lying, I got [a guitar] as a Christmas gift but I haven't used it yet," he added.

"Let's see, maybe [I'll start playing the guitar]."

The goal was Hojlund's fourth in the Premier League this season, following efforts against Aston Villa and Tottenham at Old Trafford, as well as a close-range finish at Molineux in the 4-3 win over Wolves on Thursday.

The Scandinavian striker is finding his feet at United, and says he's only just getting started.

"I am not done," he said.

"I am hungry for more and just want to keep scoring, developing and scoring goals and getting higher up and keep getting the wins. Keep linking up with my team-mates.

"I am enjoying it at the moment."

Hojlund and United's next assignment is a tough away game against Villa next weekend, the side he opened his Premier League account against on Boxing Day.
