Hojlund is the fifth Red to achieve this feat
Rasmus Hojlund is only the fifth Manchester United player to score an away goal in the Champions League or European Cup in his home country.
The Denmark international netted twice in the first half against his former club FC Copenhagen but, as was the case against Galatasaray at Old Trafford, his brace ultimately proved in vain in terms of the match's outcome.
However, his goals in the Danish capital did make him one of a handful of United men to have netted in an away fixture in their own nation, in our illustrious history in Europe's top competition.
Cristiano Ronaldo has managed it on two separate occasions, firstly with a header away to his boyhood club Sporting in Lisbon, and then with our Goal of the Season in 2008/09, an absolute rocket from long range against Porto.
The first Red to achieve the feat was Liam Whelan, with the Irishman scoring twice against Shamrock Rovers way back in September, 1957. The inside-forward helped Matt Busby's men win 6-0 at Dalymount Park with a strike either side of half-time in the European Cup tie.
England striker Wayne Rooney bagged the only goal of the game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in 2010/11 while Netherlands international Memphis was on the mark, albeit in a 2-1 defeat, away to PSV Eindhoven in 2015/16.
It is worth pointing out that, if you include neutral venues, in addition to away fixtures, then, obviously our exploits in finals warrant a mention.
Bobby Charlton netted twice and Brian Kidd was also on the scoresheet in our famous 1968 victory over Benfica at Wembley. The national stadium was also the scene of Rooney's strike against Barcelona in the 2011 Champions League final.
