Hojlund's impressive goalscoring feat

Rasmus Hojlund notched his 16th goal of the season as Manchester United rounded off our 2023/24 Premier League campaign with a 2-0 win at Brighton on Sunday.

The Dane smashed home past Jason Steele to successfully follow up on his strike against Newcastle United earlier in the week at Old Trafford.

Finding his feet at the right time, Rasmus will now be targeting his first piece of silverware as a Red, following his summer switch from Atalanta.

The 21-year-old leads our goalscoring charts as we head into the Emirates FA Cup final with Manchester City at Wembley and has surpassed some fellow greats, especially considering his age.

According to Statman Dave, Hojlund's 10 goals in the Premier League is now the same amount as Rashford managed (ten) and more than Cristiano Ronaldo (nine), Danny Welbeck (nine) and Anthony Martial (four) scored in the season where they started at 20 years old.

The boss was full of praise for Rasmus after the full-time whistle, insisting his goals have helped United at pivotal points in games across the campaign.

"I think he came in after we had scored a goal already from Diogo [Dalot] in behind but he came in and showed a very fresh influence like he did on Wednesday as well," said Ten Hag.

"Scoring two great goals and as you say I think he has made a very good impression here [in his first season]."

Opta highlight Rasmus's superb shot-conversion rate after his goal against Newcastle United.

Rasmus is set to become the first player to top score for the Reds in his maiden season since Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2016/17, following his move from PSG.

The Swede notched an impressive 28 goals that season, including 17 in 28 league games, before his involvement was cut short in April due to injury.

Before that, Robin van Persie also enjoyed an outstanding maiden year at the club, scoring 30 goals in his first 48 outings for United, while Chicharito hit 20 during the 2010/11 campaign.
