Hojlund pleased with United's attacking cohesion
Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund said it was "very good" to play alongside Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes in Saturday's win against Brentford.
When Garnacho brought United level immediately after half-time, it was the result of latching onto a precision cross-field ball from Rashford. Hojlund's winner 15 minutes later was then set up by an exquisite flick by Fernandes as the Reds went on to claim all three points, despite earlier trailing.
"All of us in the front clicked very well," Hojlund told MUTV after the final whistle.
"It was very good to play with all the lads from the beginning at Old Trafford, I've really missed it."
Hojlund: I’ve really missed Old Trafford
Rasmus Hojlund is happy to be fully fit again and pleased with his performance v Brentford…
For Hojlund, it was a first start at home of 2024/25, after recovering from a pre-season injury, and he now targets similarly decisive contributions on a consistent basis.
"Obviously, having an injury in the beginning of the season and now being 100 per cent fit is a very good experience," he said.
"I'm just trying to bring everything I can every time I step onto the pitch, especially here."
Rasmus showed his game intelligence during the contest, refusing to allow himself to be beaten to the ball by Brentford's defenders so that he could be more effective, having lost an early duel with Ethan Pinnock.
"It was just about trying to not fight too much with the defenders," he explained.
"I had a good situation where I spun him and I kept trying to do that, focusing on getting the ball down to the feet, holding it and playing from there.
"It worked very well and I’m very pleased with the team's and my own performance."
Hojlund drew some comparisons to Ruud van Nistelrooy for the way he finished his chance, calmly dinking the ball over Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken. But he is just happy to be able to learn from a legend.
"I don't want to be compared to him," he said, humbly brushing it off. "We're learning off him and working very close with him is a big, big step for me and I can develop a lot."
