Hojlund: We need to take the positives

Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund says the Reds must look to take the positives from our 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur, despite twice surrounding the lead at Old Trafford.

The Dane found the net for the second consecutive home game as he opened the scoring in M16, as well as grabbing an assist for fellow forward Marcus Rashford.

As well as claiming our fan-voted Man of the Match award, Rasmus was a constant threat across the 90 minutes and is now our leading scorer this season, with seven goals in all competitions.

Despite Erik ten Hag's side only coming away with a single point on home soil, Hojlund was keen to look forward as the winter break approaches.

Hojlund: We need to take the positives

Rasmus Hojlund says United played a good game and are disappointed to have conceded the lead twice to Tottenham...

"We were talking in the [half-time] break about switching off so it was a little bit annoying [to concede so quickly]," began Rasmus, when reviewing the game.

"We need to take the positives with us, again we need to be disappointed, as two times we were ahead.

"It can happen but again I think we played a great game."

The 20-year-old combined wonderfully with Rashford as he notched our second of the game, sparking further conversation about the partnership they are now starting to develop.

Happy to help our no.10 along the way, Hojlund was adamant his relationship with Marcus is developing as the weeks progress.

The boss feels an effective partnership between Marcus and Rasmus can transform the whole team.

"I was happy to give Marcus [Rashford] an assist today as he has been assisting me many times already throughout this season," he added.

"I was very happy to give a little something back to him and we have a good relationship both on and off the pitch.

"He is a good bloke."

United's first home outing of 2024 resulted in an entertaining draw against the north Londoners.

With our next fixture not for another two weeks - an FA Cup trip to either Newport County or Eastleigh - Rasmus added he is looking forward to enjoying some downtime before getting back to it at the end of the month.

"In some ways yeah it is important [the winter break] but at the same time, we always want to play football," added Hojlund.

"Again it is important to spend time with your loved ones and relax.

"It will be nice to have a few days off now."
