Hojlund grateful for Schmeichel's support
Rasmus Hojlund says Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has provided him with invaluable support since he joined the club.
The striker bagged his first goal of 2025 with a clinical finish to open the scoring in Sunday's 3-0 victory at Leicester City and heads into the international break on a high.
Speaking to the national media in his homeland, the Denmark centre-forward has admitted that his fellow countryman Schmeichel has been a great sounding board, when it comes to coping with life in the spotlight at Old Trafford.
In an interview with Tipsbladet, Hojlund said: "Peter helps me occasionally and listens to how I'm feeling, both when things are going well and things are going badly.
"I wouldn't call him a father figure but he helps a lot because he's been through it before.
"He knows what it means to play for Manchester United as a Dane. It's nice to have someone to spar with on that front."
There is a growing Danish contingent at United, with Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu and Christian Eriksen also with the national team, and Chido Obi part of the Under-21s squad for the first time.
"It's also a bit about finding your own path," added Hojlund. "Christian also helps me and the others but, if there are people who come and want a little help, I'm available - both for everyone here and Patrick and Chido."
Denmark face Portugal, with Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes in their sights, on Thursday in the first leg of their UEFA Nations League quarter-final tie.
