Amorim explains big Obi decision

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has explained the thinking behind the big decision over Chido Obi's involvement in the FA Youth Cup.

The striker has helped Adam Lawrence's side reach the last four of the competition but missed the extra-time triumph over his former club Arsenal, due to being needed at first-team level.

As the Under-18s prepare to face Aston Villa in a high-profile encounter tonight (Monday), Ruben confirmed that the young attacker has been allowed to feature at Villa Park, in the 19:00 BST kick-off.

"He is going to play today," said Amorim.  "So we are trying to to manage everything and Chido needs to play also, so we are helping the team and the player.

"We try to imagine next the game, we have to give minutes to the kid. We are trying to win that competition, to build something with the youth."

Obi has made four senior appearances in total, after making his debut against Tottenham Hotspur, and came off the bench in our most recent outing, the 3-0 win at Leicester City before the international break.

He made his bow for Denmark Under-21s last week.

Ruben's men are in action on Tuesday night at Nottingham Forest, before the Manchester derby against City at the weekend.
