Amorim explains Malacia reintegration

Ruben Amorim has praised Tyrell Malacia, after the Dutch defender was named in a matchday squad for the first time this season.

The Netherlands international last played for the Reds in January, against FCSB in the Europa League, before heading out on loan to PSV Eindhoven for the second part of last season.

After proving his fitness, Malacia was named on the bench for the home game against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

"I love all my players," the head coach told MUTV. "I demand the same thing from all the players.

"He is working really well, he adapted really well to our team. For me, there are no favourites.

"If you work, you play for Manchester United. If you don’t, you need to work harder to get back on the pitch."

However, Harry Maguire did not make the squad after failing to recover from a knock.

The matchwinner against Liverpool could be back for next weekend's Premier League trip to Sean Dyche's Nottingham Forest.

"He's not available for this one," said Amorim. "Hopefully, he's going to join us next week, but we'll see.

"I hope to have him next week. It's a simple thing but you never know. And I don't like to take risks with players. It's the wrong thing for Harry and for the team-mates that are working.

"I just want to show, every time, everyone is important in this team. We have a very good squad."
